Wufei almost ran over to where Duo was, afraid of what he might find. When he got there, he noticed that he had gone back to his human shape. Wufei turned Duo over and started checking him over for injuries and the worst injury he could find was a dislocated shoulder, which he quickly fixed while Duo was still asleep. Duo still had dangerously low ki, but there was nothing he could do about that until the other pilot was awake. He picked Duo up and brought him over to a sheltered area of the clearing. He set him down and quickly made a makeshift bed out of the leaves and set Duo in it, covering him with Wufei's jacket.

After making sure Duo was comfortable, Wufei set about making some early-warning traps so that he would have some notice if anything came near. When he was done, nothing short of a god was going to be able to get past these with out him having some sort of a signal. With a satisfied smile he went to where Duo was sleeping and quickly made himself a bed next to Duo's. Lying down, he made himself cozy next to Duo and quickly followed him into dreamland.

Kurama was quite delighted with himself, he had managed to get all of his homework from his college classes done, so he had the rest of the weekend free to spend with his friends and team-mates and it was only Friday afternoon. He grinned when he felt a whisper of ki nearby, he would know that signature anywhere, Hiei was following him home again from school.

As he walked down the street, he fiddled with a piece of his ruby red hair while he thought of all the things that he planned to do this weekend. It was the first free one he had had in a while, and he fully intended to enjoy it to the maximum. In the middle of thinking of what he would like to do to his fire-demon later that night, he heard something he absolutely did *NOT* want to hear.......

Botan shouting his name in that 'stop-what-your-doing-Koenma-needs- you-to-save-the-world-again-now' voice....

With a sigh, he waited for her to catch up to him and narrowed his emerald eyes.

"What is it Botan?" he asked politely, still using his manners even though he was slightly put-off with the interruption of his weekend. And he just *knew* he was going to lose most, if not all, of his weekend, he'd be willing to bet just about anything on it.

"Koenma-sama has a job for you guys," she chirped, not even realizing how upset this was making him. "There was an unidentified disturbance in the Makai and even though it's not technically in our jurisdiction, Koenma-sama would like to know as much about it as possible, so he decided to send you guys to get as much information as possible for him."

By the time she finished, she was practically glowing with perkiness. Where it had come from, Kurama had no idea, he just assumed it was a woman thing and forgot about it before it made his head hurt.....

"Okay," he said. "Are we going to meet at Genkai's temple like usual?" he inquired, his mind not really thinking about the job.

"Yep!" She answered air-headedly.

"Have you talked to Yuusuke and Kuwabara yet?" he asked, trying to find some way to salvage the weekend he had planned on spending with Hiei.

She blinked and replied, "No, not yet."

He grinned as he thought of something and said, "Well, since it's just a surveillance mission, Hiei and I'll go alone. It'll be easier to get in and back out undetected."

Botan blinked again, "But what if you run into trouble?"

He waved his hand and dismissed that particular worry with a simple, "It's just a surveillance mission, Botan, if I can't handle getting in and watching something, I don't deserve to be called a thief anymore."

Later he would wish he hadn't said those words, because it was then that he sealed his destiny to have a very eventful weekend instead of doing a *simple* surveillance job.
