Wufei leaned back against a nearby tree; he was tired after helping Kurama stabilize Hiei. They still didn't know what had happened to get him in this condition..... he looked over at Kurama. The redhead was hiding it well, but Wufei could tell that he was worried. Kurama's eyes held a slight pensiveness that hardly anyone would notice if they weren't looking for it. Wufei's eyes strayed back to the slumbering pair. At the moment Duo and Hiei were curled around each other like two hatchlings, with Duo snuggled up like a little lost kitten against Hiei.

"You know, no one would believe me if I told them about this." Kurama's voice broke the silence like a whip[2], as he pointed at the two.

"Why's that?" Wufei asked curiously.

"Well, for starters no one would believe that," Kurama pointed at the two curled up against each other. "Hiei isn't the most demonstrative of people [3]........"

Wufei watched as Kurama watched the two sleepers almost wistfully, like HE wanted to be in Duo's place curled up next to Hiei. His eyes narrowed in thought.

"You and Hiei," he said, watching Kurama carefully, "you're lovers? Or, at least you would like to be?"

Kurama froze for a millisecond then looked at Wufei in surprise, "Yes, we're lovers. How'd you tell? The rest of our team hasn't noticed that we even like each other, much less that we're lovers."

Wufei smiled wryly, "It's not that hard to see if you know what to look for. I've had all too much time alone and I've spent most of it learning to read people."

Kurama looked back and gave a smile just as wry as Wufei's; "I know that feeling all to well. You don't make a living as a thief unless you can read people at least a little." He looked around the clearing and stood up. "Well, I wasn't planning on staying here but now we don't really have a choice until those two wake up again. I'm going to go get us some food and scout around a bit."

Wufei got up and grabbed his Katana. He looked so surprised when he saw the condition that it was in that Kurama almost laughed.

"Hiei cleaned it for you when you were out of it," his voice showing none of the amusement that he felt.

Wufei looked at Hiei. "Then I'll have to thank him when he gets up," he said as he attached the sword to his belt and looked at Kurama expectantly. "Well, are we going?"

Kurama just blinked. "You're going with me? Someone needs to stay with these two, they're helpless right now."

Wufei snorted, amused. "Don't let Duo hear you say that, he gets a little bit upset when he's called helpless. He's not called Shinigami because he has a big ego, Duo's easily the most dangerous person that I've ever met," Wufei stated in a matter-of-fact tone of voice.

Kurama's eyes had widened yet again with surprise when he had heard Duo's nickname. "He call's himself Shinigami? The God of Death?"

Wufei grinned sadly, "Hai, and it fits surprisingly well for someone so full of life. Duo is the only thing that kept us sane and alive during the war, yet he sees himself as the reincarnation of death."

"Did the rest of you have nicknames? Or was Duo the only one?" Kurama asked, trying to change the subject.

Wufei stifled a grin, "Hai, I somehow acquired the nickname of 'dragon'."

Kurama almost choked on his laughter, "Did they know about what you were when they gave it to you?"

Wufei gave a small laugh, "No, they didn't. They still don't, that's what I found so amusing."

Kurama, though still laughing slightly, looked around the clearing and asked Wufei, "So you think that Duo can take care of anything that comes around?"

"I can take care of myself thank you very much!" An amused voice interrupted Wufei before he could answer. Duo looked up from where he was curled up next to Hiei and gave a mock-hurt look to Wufei. "I'm hurt that you would think otherwise!"

"If you'd been listening better baka," Wufei said, rolling his eyes, "you would have realized the I never said that you couldn't take care of yourself!"

Duo's eyes danced as he waved at the two. "Go on, I'll take watch over here." He grinned and looked at Hiei, "I don't think that I'm going to be going anywhere anytime soon anyway."

Wufei nodded and looked at Kurama, "Well, shall we go?"

Kurama nodded and they left.
