RB’s Notes

Maybe they aren’t necessary but I’ve felt compelled to keep notes on this story. All are just my opinion and explains the way I(‘ve) handling/handled the characters. My resources have been fellow HLoA fans such as Narsus the Imperial Artist who holds the crown for the most written HLoA Daryun / Narsus fanfiction and arslansenki.net a very indepth site of the series.

Narsus

Some may view this story as totally AU, especially Narsus’ behavior. But think, imagine–I truly don’t believe Narsus was always bitter and cold. I read at www.arslansenki.net that Narsus’ voice actor, Shiozawa Kaneto, felt that Narsus had at some point in his life, killed his heart. I think so to.

Perhaps more had occurred during his years at court. His beauty and intelligence catching the eye of many. I for one would not have been surprised that perhaps Andragoras used him for political advantage. Many kings in history have done that, used their subjects to their advantage. Alliances born on such things. Narsus had a truly dejected look (perhaps a little fear) on his face when he was ordered by Andragoras to remain in Ekubatana and he was quick to escape with Daryun.

Also, you have the circumstances of his birth. I’m sure as he got older the subject of his birth, the son of a Lord and a slave, came to light. He does have an intense interest in freeing slaves. Perhaps certain individuals took delight in tormenting a young Narsus who was not of pure birth. Perhaps his father’s family did not approve. He and his mother were driven from his childhood home.

This story occurs during peace time, he’s more relaxed. A new King. New duties. Perhaps you are seeing a Narsus before the bitterness? A rebirth of sorts.

Narsus in relationship to Daryun

LOL! Do you really want me to get started on this?

Look at this pic and tell me

Narsus’ submissive position. Arms folded behind his back. Very casual. In fact the relationship is very casual. The arguments. The familiarity with one another. When you talk/think nobility your reminded of protocol and respect in the ranks. These two can be quite passionate around each other; their arguments, those glances. Even in this particular shot, one gets the notion that Narsus wants to discuss more than a strategy. But Daryun's pose in this scene is a very closed stance.

I remember this scene were Arislan had sent the troops after those Turkish fellows (the one slaughtering those villagers) and Narsus and Daryun were riding side by side. Narsus had wanted Daryun to promise him something and Daryun had assumed the troops and promised to pull them if things got too bad, but Narsus responded, But, something else. The promise was never voiced. *g* Another case of a fanatic reading more into a situation. =)

And yes! One must note that the two ride side by side quite a bit.

Ugh. Yes, I do read too much into them. But they are my idea couple.

For the record, wars don’t get won over night so the story actually puts Daryun at 30 and Narsus at 29.

Narsus in relationship to Hermes

It is very true the Manga differs greatly from the anime. Narsus and Silver Mask had more than one run in. (I do especially want to note the above.) And Narsus was the one to discover who Silver Mask was. So I truly believe that Prince Hermes aka Silver Mask would have a great deal of respect and admiration for Lord Narsus. Fighter and strategist that he is. I would think Narsus would still be leery of him. But I think that opinion capable of changing.

Narsus in relationship to Quishward

Quishward *swoons* this man is hot. And he and Narsus share quite a few *looks* in the anime that screamed slash me.

I intended a three way triangle on this but damn, my prejudices wouldn’t let me. *g*

Narsus in relationship to Arislan

Totally platonic. In the series Arislan is 14 years old, so I’ve never slashed him (that’s an RB no-no, children with adult pairings). *shudders* The only thing you’ll see in this story is total respect for one another.

But Arislan is not naive.

Narsus in relationship to Alfreedo

Hell no! Anyways, the girl was only 16 years old in the anime. O.o
