Destiny Bites

Chapter 4

By the time Luc crawled into bed, he was exhausted, but smiling. He really couldn’t remember the last time he had such a wonderful time. His companion had turned out to be a very intelligent and charming man.

Smirking to himself as he snuggled into the covers, Luc had to add that Jerrod was also a very arrogant man. Fortunately, there was nothing mean spirited about his arrogance Jerrod was just…well, spoiled.

Luc chuckled. The look on Jerrod’s face when he had told him goodnight at the hotel room door had been priceless.

“What do you mean goodnight?”

Smiling as one of his eyebrows raised Luc gently reiterated, “I mean just that. Goodnight. This is as far as you go. I’m exhausted and I need my sleep.”

Jerrod took a step closer as he stared into Luc’s eyes. “But…but wouldn’t you like to go to sleep in my arms?”

Luc raised one hand to gently cup Jerrod’s cheek. “We both know we wouldn’t get much sleep, Jerrod. And I desperately need my sleep. Besides,” shrugging, “I would like to get to know you better first.”

Jerrod’s bottom lip jutted out again as he looked at Luc, astonishment clear on his face. “You…you don’t want me?”

Luc chuckled softly as his index finger tapped the pouting lip lightly. “Now stop that. We’re going to see one another again tonight. Wanting you has nothing to do with my decision. I know myself well enough to know when to quit. I need my rest.”

Luc chuckled again. He didn’t think Jerrod was used to being told no and, although it had been more difficult than he let on, Luc wasn’t willing to spoil their chances of something more lasting by letting Jerrod push him into doing something he wasn’t ready for.

Sighing as he let his eyes drift close, Luc shook his head mentally. He didn’t know why he felt there was a chance of something more lasting, he just did. And he wanted it. Probably more than anything he had ever wanted before. But it had to be done the right way. His guts were screaming at him that it was imperative to do it this way, slow and easy, and his gut feelings had never led him astray.

Jerrod didn’t know whether to be furious or amused. Luc had sent him away. Just like…like a normal first date. That was something he had never imagined happening to himself. And yet…

Jerrod couldn’t help but smile. It had been fun. The most fun he could remember having in years. Luc was intelligent, had a good sense of humor and…well, he was one of the most attractive humans Jerrod had seen in a long time.

Scowling a little, Jerrod had to admit that Luc was a bit infuriating too. He had never had anyone turn him down before. Even using his powers of persuasion had not done any good. Luc was immune to them.

That thought had Jerrod smiling again. He hadn’t been wrong. Luc had a special power that wasn’t seen often. He could be the one Jerrod had been searching for: someone that could become his eternal mate; someone that Jerrod could safely fall in love with.

Now all he had to do was convince Luc.

Looking out his window and up into the brightening sky, Jerrod smiled softly. He had the feeling that Luc could be convinced. He would just have to accept the fact that he couldn’t push Luc. He needed to take his time.

Walking over to pull his bell rope to summon his long time assistant and friend, Heath, Jerrod began to strip. Dropping his shirt onto the floor, he turned to sit on the bed to pull off his shoes and socks and grinned to see Heath already there.

“Yes sir?”

Chuckling wryly, Jerrod only shook his head and finished stripping. The man never failed to amaze him. He was quick and quiet and probably one of the best human friends and servants he had ever had. “I need two volunteers this morning.

“Planning to be out all day?”

Jerrod nodded as he stood to head for the shower. “I’m hoping it will be longer than that.”

That comment had Heath raising his eyebrows slightly in surprise. “A new target sir?”

A soft smile played across Jerrod’s lips and he turned to face Heath. “Yes and no my friend. He is a target. But this target is so very special. I am hoping for this one to be my life mate. I have the strongest feeling that he is the one.”

Heath’s normally solemn face broke out into a smile. “That is wonderful to hear sir. You know we will all do whatever we can to help.”

Heath’s smile had stopped Jerrod in his tracks. The number of times he had ever seen his friend smile like that could be counted on one hand. It made him realize that he had not been as good at hiding his loneliness as he had thought.

Jerrod stood in shock for a moment before smiling back. “Thanks my friend. Just get me a couple of volunteers and that will be help enough for the moment.”

Unwilling to waste much time, Jerrod quickly took his shower and finished his toiletries. Grabbing his robe off the back of the bathroom door, he belted it loosely and headed out to get dressed. He had only taken a couple of steps out of the bathroom before he stopped in his tracks once more. A set of very handsome male twins were lounging on his bed naked as the day they had been born.

The bolder one of the pair stood and walked over to stand almost uncomfortably close to Jerrod as his hands reached to untie the robe belt. “Heath said you needed a couple of volunteers. We are delighted to offer our services.”

Jerrod’s eyes narrowed slightly. He knew Heath would not have failed to fill these young men in as to what was needed from them. And since Heath knew he was tracking someone so special, sex would not have been mentioned.

Quickly grabbing the man’s wrists, Jerrod cocked his head to the side and raised one eyebrow. “And did Heath tell you to offer your body to me as well?”

The boldest one grinned unrepentedly. “No sir. Knowing your preferences, we couldn’t help but hope.”

Jerrod chuckled as he shook his head. “Sorry guys. Not this time. I would have taken the offer yesterday, but things have changed drastically. I just need sustenance for the day.”

When two identical sounds of disappointment were made, Jerrod couldn’t help but chuckle again. “Don’t worry fellows. I’ll make sure you enjoy breakfast.”

Almost before the words were out of his mouth, Jerrod was being pulled eagerly to the bed. “I’m Gary and that’s George. We have been looking forward to this eagerly, so if you change your mind…”

Situating himself in between the brothers, and gathering Gary into his arms, Jerrod smiled. “I thank you for your offer. I hope I won’t ever feel the need to take you up on it, but I will remember it just in case.”
